Formé au Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon, Jérôme obtient son diplôme en 1997.
Dès l’année suivante, il débute sa carrière professionnelle aux Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Au fil des années, il s’y distingue par son talent et son engagement artistique, gravissant progressivement les échelons jusqu’à atteindre, en 2006, le rang d’étoile.
En 2012, il poursuit son parcours international en s’envolant pour la Suède afin d’intégrer le Royal Swedish Ballet. Son excellence artistique y est rapidement reconnue et il est nommé danseur étoile en 2014.
Au cours de sa carrière, il a eu l’opportunité d’apprivoiser les œuvres de nombreux chorégraphes majeurs de la scène internationale, parmi lesquels Jean-Christophe Maillot – directeur des Ballets de Monte-Carlo -, Maurice Béjart, Emanuel Gat, Johan Inger, William Forsythe, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Jacopo Godani, Jiří Kylián, Paul Lightfoot et Sol León, George Balanchine ou encore Alexander Ekman.
Parallèlement à sa carrière de danseur étoile, Jérôme Marchand s’investit activement dans la transmission de son art. Il enseigne la danse classique et contemporaine à la Royal Swedish Ballet School, à l’Académie de danse de Stockholm ainsi qu’à l’école Base 23 de Stockholm. Il a également exercé en tant que maître de ballet lors de la tournée « Dans i Nord – Beyond Words 6 » et dispensé des workshops internationaux, affirmant ainsi son engagement au service de la création et de la pédagogie chorégraphiques.
Trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, Jérôme graduated in 1997.
The following year, he began his professional career with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Over the years, he distinguished himself through his talent and artistic commitment, gradually rising through the ranks to achieve the status of Principal in 2006.
In 2012, he continued his international journey by moving to Sweden to join the Royal Swedish Ballet. His artistic excellence was quickly recognized, and he was promoted to Principal dancer in 2014.
Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to master the works of many leading international choreographers, including Jean-Christophe Maillot – director of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Maurice Béjart, Emanuel Gat, Johan Inger, William Forsythe, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Jacopo Godani, Jiří Kylián, Paul Lightfoot and Sol León, George Balanchine, and Alexander Ekman.
Alongside his career as a principal dancer, Jérôme Marchand is actively committed to sharing his art. He teaches classical and contemporary dance at the Royal Swedish Ballet School, the Stockholm Dance Academy, and Stockholm’s Base 23 school. He has also worked as a ballet master during the “Dans i Nord – Beyond Words 6” tour and has conducted international workshops, further demonstrating his dedication to choreographic creation and pedagogy.
